In a corner of Pibor Shire, Scotland, it's Scotland itself, an exact replica1 built in the 1970s by Polish workers. What is the conversation now about independence for this land? We brought together two supporters, a one-time advisor2 and speech writer to Alex Amon, and a consulting editor to a national newspaper, which backs Scotland breaking away.
When do you think that referendum is going to be?
I hope that it will be towards the end of 2018.
What are you feelings ...
I'd be amazed if there is an independence referendum before 2020.
I think when it becomes apparent that treatment government is absolutely paying no attention to Scotland's wishes at all, and it suggested that they will take a corner for we want as completely ficticious. I think people then will become justifiably4 angry. And I think then we may see some shift in the polls.
But at the same time, a strong Theresa May if you like makes Scotland's choices harder. And because we would then have to negotiate and campaign for independence in a world where we know for a fact that London will be one of the hardest people we 'd have to negotiate with. hm That Brussels will now become a whole different problem for one reason or another. And that we have again this backdrop of what I would say is a pretty gloomy economic forecast for all developed nations over the next five to ten years.
At the Ascent5 peace autumn gathering6, the alarm topped Nicolas Sturgeon's announcement as if independence referendum bill will be published next week.Outside the conference hall, opponents said political ambition was being proved before the public interest. Three miles across Glasgow, the public voted in an ascent peace council last week, a short defeat flavor.
We went to this life skills class in the Glasgow and Hills ward3. What do they see here? A Scotland's bleak7 political picture.
...[Scottish women talking] survival every single day.
I'm very sincere places they give us council vote to Scotland's Party of Government. It was one vote in one council ward. But it is clear that there is a resilience in the SMP vote. What the party doesn't have though was a clear indication in the opinion polls, that it would win a second independence referendum. Here Nicolas Sturgeon might have shortened the journey to that referendum, but it's still destination unknown.
