Forecasting weather by scientific methods did not begin until the
19th century, when telegraph was invented and many countries agreed to
exchange weather reports according to a prescribed plan. Later advances
in weather forecasting were achieved as a result of the invention of
the rediosonde and radar1, accompanied by the use of computers and
weather satellites.
