 　　The Factory 工厂

　　Do you know where people make crackers¹, cloth², pencils, cell³ phones or cars? In factories. 你知道人们在哪儿生产饼干，衣服，铅笔，手机或汽车吗?在工厂。

　　A factory is a place where people make things with machines. 工厂是人们用机器生产物品的地方。

　　For example, car factories make cars using hundreds of machines. 例如，汽车厂用成千上万台机器生产汽车。

　　Hundreds of workers work in factories, too. 很多工人也在工厂工作。

　　Are all factories big? No, they are not. 所有的工厂都很大吗？不是的。

　　Some small factories only have one machine and one person. 有的小工厂只有一台机器和一个工人。

　　Factories are very important for our lives. 工厂对我们的生活非常重要。

　　If there were no factories, things would be too expensive. 如果没有工厂，东西会很贵。

　　Also, a  lot of factory workers would lose their jobs. 很多工人也会失业。

1 crackers
