The Chinese government is accusing Japan of intentionally1 tarnishing2 China's image.
The accusation3 comes following reports that a Chinese vessel4 put a radar5 firing lock on a Japanese naval6 patrol in the East China Sea this week.
"Now it is not a matter of China displaying its strength, but Japanese vessels8 and planes' continuous illegal activities in China's territorial9 waters and airspace. Recently, Japan has sensationalized the crisis issues, created tensions and tarnished10 China's image, which goes against the efforts to improve relations between the two countries. China hopes to solve and address the problems through talks."
The foreign ministry says the authorities are currently verifying the incident.
