　　Mark: Jingjing, have you heard anything from your friend, Meili?

　　马克：京晶，最近有你那位朋友美丽的消息吗？

　　Jingjing: You mean the one who went on a blind date a few months ago?

　　京晶：你是说几个月前去相亲的那位？

　　Mark: That's the one. Did she go out again with that guy?

　　马克：就是她。她后来和那位男士约会了吗？

　　Jingjing: Actually, they were seeing each other for a few weeks.

　　Mark: They were? It sounds like there's a good story.

　　Jingjing: Well, she was pretty happy with him. But he lost his job a few weeks after they started going out.

　　马克：他爸是什么样的人你可啥信息都没透露过，也没说过太多高峰啊！我无从下手啊！嗯，难道高峰瞎编了个工作然后被他爸妈抓了现形？

　　Jingjing: If only it were that simple. Remember how Gaofeng got fired?

　　京晶：如果那么简单就好了。你记得高峰是怎么被解雇的吗？

　　Mark: Yes. Did the dad know something about it?

　　马克：记得，难道他爸知道一些什么？

　　Jingjing: He knew more than anyone, because he was the boss who let Gaofeng go!

　　Mark: Oh, that's terrible. Was he embarrassed?

　　Jingjing: Meili's father was a gentleman about it. I don't know what Gaofeng had done to lose his job. But, obviously⁴, the dad-slash-boss had some doubts about whether or not Gao Feng could be responsible.

　　Mark: So, what was the verdict⁵? Could Meili and Gaofeng still be an item?

　　Jingjing: They're keeping in touch. But they were asked to put their relationship on hold for a while, at least until Gaofeng can land another gig.
