Radio 4's obituary¹ programme, telling the lives of significant figures who have died recently. This week Matthew Bannister marks the lives of the Irish trade unionist and women's rights campaigner Inez McCormick, the film director and restaurant critic Michael Winner, agony aunt Pauline Phillips - who wrote under the pen name "Dear Abby", the electrical engineer Dr Tingye Li who helped to develop the laser and the cookery writer Katie Stewart whose column in the Times inspired a generation.
