We preview Obama's announcement on increasing taxes for the rich. Tax hikes however 'go after the heartland of America' by removing the incentive² to earn more, says Terry Savage³ in a feisty critique of the president's upcoming State of the Union address. In London, a satirical play on tax havens⁴ is beginning its season - we speak to the director of 'Islands' to hear why he thinks he's helping⁵ Britain's Prime Minister in clamping down on tax evaders. Finally, Hong Kong has been declared as the most expensive place in the world to rent office space - a day after the world's most expensive residential⁶ blocks went on sale in New York. Property expert Rhiannon Bury explains the economics behind rocketing real estate value.
