The US President says China has started 'putting out feelers' over the huge free trade agreement - the Trans-Pacific Partnership³ - currently being negotiated between twelve countries in the Pacific Rim⁴. In an interview with Kai Ryssdal from our partners at US public radio programme Marketplace, Mr Obama also argues America cannot afford to stay out of such deals, despite vocal⁵ opposition⁶ from many in his own party who say it would result in lower wages and fewer jobs at home.
