Last time we learned a sentence pattern which is : S insist that S should do. 表示某人坚持要求某人做某事。Insist在此句中是“坚持要求”的意思。And some translation exercises were left last time and I'm about to be out with the answers to them.

From the above translation answers, we can see a phrase which is : insist on or insist upon. It means " to demand something and refuse to be persuaded to accept anything else ". Because "on" or "upon" is a preposition, a gerund or a gerund phrase can follow it. So , we have another phrase : insist on doing or insist upon doing. However, it differs from "insist on ( upon )". It means " to continue doing something even if other people think it's annoying".
