今天我们继续说聚会。这样的聚会是在晚上举行，通常大家都只喝一种含有酒精的饮料，会使人有点晕得飘飘然，聚会上喧哗无比，参与者极度疯狂。这是什么聚会呢？

 

我们先来听下面的2个句子：

 

例句-1：Going to the beer bust¹ this Friday? I hear it's only five dollars stag or drag.

 

例句-2：I've heard that the beer bust last week at Landy's house was splendid.

 

接招：在我们刚才听到的2个例句中，都可以听到同一个词语：beer bust。它是美国的一个俚语，作为俚语它的意思是：以啤酒为主要饮料的啤酒狂欢会，啤酒欢宴会，啤酒晚会。其英文解释是这样的：a large, usually boisterous² party, as for college students, club members, or soldiers, at which beer is the sole or principal beverage³ and is consumed in large quantities。

 

从其英文解释中，我们来看一下这个beer bust（啤酒晚会）通常是那些人举办和参与呢？有college students（大学生），有club members（俱乐部会员），有soldiers（士兵）等。我们再来看看“啤酒”在这样的晚会上占据着如何重要的地位。它是sole（唯一）或者是principle（最重要的）饮料，参与晚会的人会喝很多打啤酒。

 

此外，这是一个名词性短语，它通常和hold，throw，have等动词连用做谓语，表示“举办啤酒晚会”。它是可数名词，可以在其前面加不定冠词和定冠词。也可以使用物主代词，表明了是某人发起举办的啤酒晚会。
