全球首条太阳能公路在法国投入使用

 　　France has opened what it claims to be the world's first solar panel road.

　　法国近日开通了号称世界首条的太阳能电板公路。

　　The 1 km stretch of road in the small Normandy village of Tourouvre-au-Perche is paved with 2,880 solar panels, which convert energy from the sun into electricity.

　　Some 2,000 motorists will use the road every day during a two-year test period.

　　During that time, assessments¹ will be made as to whether the road is capable of generating enough power to run the village's street lights.

　　Tourouvre-au-Perchef is home to around 3,400 residents. The project is said to have cost EUR5m and was financed by the French government.

　　In 2014, a solar-powered cycle path opened in Krommenie in the Netherlands and, despite teething problems, has generated 3,000kWh of energy – enough to power an average family home for a year.
