故宫博物院将在香港开'分号' 预计于2022年竣工

　　The cultural project is designed to allow local residents and tourists there to view some of China's most treasured artifacts.

　　这一文化项目旨在让当地居民和游客能够看到中国最珍贵的文物。

　　The Palace Museum and Hong Kong authorities signed a memorandum¹ of cooperation on the Hong Kong Palace Museum in Beijing last Friday.

　　Limited by space, Beijing's Palace Museum is only capable of displaying less than one percent of its collection each year. The museum has been looking for opportunities to present more of its cultural relics² beyond the crimson³ walls of the Forbidden City.

　　受空间的限制，北京故宫博物院每年只能展出不到百分之一的收藏品。博物院一直在寻找机会越过紫禁城深红色的墙壁，展示其更多的文物。

　　To be built on an area of 10,000 square meter in West Kowloon Cultural District, the museum will have permanent exhibitions on the culture and history of the Palace Museum and imperial life.

　　香港博物馆将建在西九文化区，占地1万平方米；博物馆将长期举办有关故宫文化历史和宫廷生活的展览。

　　Shan Jixiang, the chief curator of the Palace Museum, says they've found that Forbidden City culture is particularly popular in Hong Kong.

　　故宫博物院院长单霁翔表示，他们发现故宫文化在香港特别受欢迎。

　　"In the Palace Museum there are as many as 8-thousand pieces of national treasures like painting of the 'Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival.' We will run exhibitions on different subjects, each presenting some important exhibits."
