Some people prefer to spend their free time with a group of friends. Others prefer to spend their free time with just one person at a time. Which do you prefer? Why?
Spend their free time with just one person
One-on-one conversations are best ways to know sb well
Eg. Birthday party
二.范文
Personally, I prefer to spend my free time with just one friend at a time because I think one-on-one conversations are the best ways to really get to know someone. For example, yesterday I went to my friend’s birthday party and there were lots of other people whom I didn’t really know very well. Since people were always changing seats or walking around meeting new people, it was really hard for me to stay focused on one conversation and learn more about anyone. Most of the conversations were just chitchats about random1, unimportant2 issues, which were less meaningful than what I’d like them to be. Therefore, I prefer to spend time with one friend at a time.
三.词汇
1. personally:adv.
Personally I think it's a waste of time.
2. spend:vt. 度过,消磨(时光);
We spent the night in a hotel.
3. conversation:n. 交谈,会话;
He's a talkative guy, and I struck up a conversation with him.
4. focus:n.
He said his sudden focus on foreign policy was not motivated by presidential politics.
5. chitchat:n.
Not being a mother, I found the chitchat exceedingly3 dull.
6. random:adj. [
The survey used a random sample of two thousand people across the Midwest.
1. Personally, I prefer to spend my free time with just one friend at a time because I think one-on-one conversations are the best ways to really get to know someone.
prefer to do宁可做某事;更喜欢做某事,because引起了原因状语从句,one-on-one conversations are the best ways to really get to know someone.
2. For example, yesterday I went to my friend’s birthday party and there were lots of other people whom I didn’t really know very well.
For example例如,there be句型表示存在,whom引起了定语从句,在从句中做宾语。
3. Since people were always changing seats or walking around meeting new people, it was really hard for me to stay focused on one conversation and learn more about anyone.
Since因为,it+is+adj+for sb+to do sth,做….
4. Most of the conversations were just chitchats about random, unimportant issues, which were less meaningful than what I’d like them to be.
