A new article in a special section on Culture and Psychology1 in Perspectives on Psychological Science, a journal of the Associationfor Psychological Science, explains that people in different cultures think about work in different ways.

For example, people have different expectations about teamwork, says Cristina B. Gibson, of the University of Western Australia.

Gibson has interviewed people to understand how they conceptualizeteams. “In the US, people used a lot of sports
metaphors3. Elsewhere, that just wasn't a common
