China is exporting the very latest in hi-tech trams to Europe. Four ultra-low floor trams are on their way to Turkey.
The trams were designed and built by the China CNR Corporation, one of China's biggest tram makers1, which won the bid ahead of Siemens and Alstom. It's the first time Chinese-made trams have entered the European market.
The ultra low-floor design is environmentally friendly, with low Carbon Dioxide emissions2, and is also very quiet. With its floor just 400 millimetres above the height of the rail, it offers a high standard of passenger comfort.
The trams are being shipped to Turkey by the world's biggest cargo3 plane, the Antonov An-225 Mriya.
