Chinese ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo has told a seminar marking the 70th anniversary of the Cairo Declaration that the seriousness and effectiveness of the Declaration is undisputed. Song Aiguo reviewed the history of the signing of the document at the hotel where it was signed.
At the event held by the Chinese embassy in Egypt. He refuted the Japanese right wing’s remarks that the Cairo Declaration has no legal binding1 force. Song said the Cairo declaration is an internationally recognised document and also a result of the joint2 efforts against the fascist3 axis4.
He said the document, together with the Potsdam Declaration, are evidence for Taiwan to be restored to China after the war. He also said the documents are the legal basis to resolve the Diaoyu Islands dispute. He pointed5 out that China stands resolutely6 in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial7 integrity.
