Security in Bangkok is tight as anti-government protesters prepare to seize key government offices to bring down the government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
Hundreds woke up in camps fortified1 with sandbags in preparation. Overnight, a clash between anti-government protesters and red shirt supporters outside of a rally venue2 killed at least two and wounded dozens. One death was an anti-government student, the other was a supporter of the pro-government red shirts, believed to be a 23-year-old soldier.
In a bid to avoid further bloodshed, this morning the pro-government red-shirts declared an end to the demonstration3 at a stadium in Bangkok and urged their supporters to go home.
