While most Chinese bundle up in winter, some are stripping down to celebrate the frosty weather.

Although the temperature may fall to minus 10 to 20 degrees Celsius1 in northeast China, that can’t chill the enthusiasm of these winter swimmers who took the plunge2 to greet 2014.

Some of them traveled all the way from southern China to dive in. They view swimming in winter as a personal ritual and form of exercise that offers several health benefits
