To talk more about Obama's Japan and South Korea visits, we are now joined in the studio by Teng Jianqun, Director of the Center of Arms Control at the China Institute of International Studies.

 

Q1: Obama reassured1 Japan that the alliance between the two countries is strong and he said the Diaoyu islands are covered by the US-Japan security treaty. Is that commitment going to be reflected in actions?

 

Q2: Following Obama’s statement in Japan, South Korea said that its disputed islands with Japan should be covered by its security treaty with the US too. How is the US going to handle its relations with its two allies?
