In a new record, Beijing’s Environmental Protection Bureau has handed down the highest fine to a company for violating pollution standards. The utility boiler¹ manufacturing company was fined after the city’s new Air Pollution Prevention Regulation took effect. 

Joining our studio discussion now is Wu Changhua, the Greater China Director of the Climate Group. 

Q1: The 300,000 yuan is the highest ever fine for air pollution in Beijing. But is it really that much considering the pollution the company has caused?
