Premier1 Li Keqiang says the improvements in quality and efficiency of the Chinese economy are important contributions to maintaining stability and development of the world economy.
Li made these remarks during a meeting with the founder2 and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum3, Klaus Schwab on the eve of the annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. He added that the forum had a significant influence on the international economy.
The premier stressed that China maintains a positive momentum4 in economic development amid complex domestic and international situations.He added it will continue to implement5 a proactive fiscal6 policy and prudent7 monetary8 policy, which will neither be loose nor tight, with more emphasis on structural9 reforms.
Schwab said China's role has become increasingly important in the international political and economic system, adding that the forum is willing to expand cooperation with China and support its growing importance in the international arena10.
Besides attending the meeting, Premier Li is also paying a working visit to Switzerland. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the annual forum, meet representatives of the International Business Council of the forum, and hold talks with President of the Swiss Confederation Simonetta Sommaruga.
