After nearly two hours floating on the Yangtze river, one survivor who successfully escaped from the capsized boat has been rescued in Hubei's neighbouring Hunan province. A local villager who works at a sand and gravel wharf next to the river recalls the moment.
"I was repairing a conveyor belt around 11 pm on Monday night. I heard someone yelling help, help... they yelled for a long time. I thought something was wrong. I went out in a rowing boat with my boss and saved him," said a local villager named Feng Kaimin.
The villager's collegue said the weather conditions at the time of the accident were extremely bad, with heavy storms and rains. The survivor is a man called Jiang Geng, a member of staff at Nanjing Xiehe travel agency and originally from Anhui province. He has since been sent to hospital for treatment.
