China has reached an important consensus with Brunei, Cambodia and Laos -- the South China Sea territorial dispute is not an issue between China and ASEAN, and it should not affect China-ASEAN relations.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the comments in Laos during his visit. He said all three countries have agreed that the right of choosing a solution under international laws should be respected, and all involved parties must solve disputes through talks and negotiations.
He also said countries outside of China and ASEAN should play a constructive role in this matter, rather than an adverse one.
