1. BP will soon start tests on a new containment cap over the leaking Gulf oil well. The government ordered extra safety precautions for the procedure. BP says the test will take up to 48 hours.

 

2. The teenager known as the "Barefoot Bandit" appeared at a Miami court today. The judge called for another hearing on Friday to determine if Colton Harris-Moore will have a private attorney or a public defender. Harris-Moore is suspected in about 70 burglaries and other crimes in eight states and Canada.

 

3. Sarah Palin's 19-year-old daughter is back together with her former flame. Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston told Us Weekly they were engaged once again. The couple reportedly reconciled while working on a custody plan for their 18-month-old son Tripp.

 

4. The first sea turtle hatchlings evacuated from the Gulf oil spill region were released into the Atlantic Ocean. About 700 sea turtle nests are being trucked from oiled shores along the Gulf to Cape Canaveral where they are kept at a climate-controlled facility
