Sand and Stone

The story goes that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, he wrote in the sand: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE."

这是一个关于沙漠中行走的两个好朋友的故事。他们走着走着，他们发生了争执，甲打了乙一耳光。被打的乙很受伤，但他什么也没说，在沙子里写下：“今天，我最要好的朋友打了我一耳光。”

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one, who had been slapped, got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE."

他们继续前进，直到他们走到一个绿洲，于是决定洗个澡。被打了一巴掌的乙却陷入了泥沼之中，满满地出现了溺水，而他的朋友，甲救了他。乙从溺水中慢慢苏醒过来之后，他在石头上刻下：“今天我最要好的朋友救了我。”

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?"

打了他一耳光又救了他性命的甲就问他：“我伤害了你，你把它写在沙子里，现在你有些在石头上，这是为什么呢？”

The other friend replied: "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

乙回答说：“当有人伤害了我们时，我们应该把它在沙子上，那样原谅的风能轻易地把它吹走。但是，当有人做了有利于我们的事情时，我们应该把它刻在石头之上，那样永远不会有风把它吹走。”
