1. A suicide bomb blast has killed at least 60 people in Baghdad. The bomber set off explosives near an army recruiting center. The recruits had been assembling since before dawn in unprotected area. The Iraqi military blames al-Qaeda in Iraq for recruiting the bomber.
2. Same-sex weddings in California are on hold indefinitely. A federal appeals panel decided it wants to rule on the constitutionality of the state's gay marriage ban before same-sex couples can resume getting married. Gay couples will have to wait until December at the earliest to get married in the state.
3. The federal government will review a weekend accident in an off-road race in California's Mojave Desert that killed eight spectators. Eight people died, 12 were hurt, when an off-road truck flipped and landed on spectators. The focus is on the race promoters and just how close the fans were to the course.
4. And a Colorado teen was just washing her mom's car when she says she was struck by lightning. Fourteen-year-old Savannah Vowers said she was standing in a puddle of water when the bolt hit the ground. She left the hospital with only minor injuries. |
