1. The new claims facility for damages from the Gulf oil spill begins today. Ken Feinberg is the administrator for the claims. He is requiring that anyone who receives a final settlement will give up the right to sue. Hundreds of lawsuits have already been filed by spill victims.
2. Three people are dead, four others wounded, following a shooting in central Virginia. The gunman is among those who were killed Sunday afternoon. Police believe the gunman started shooting after a dispute over property and belongings. Among those shot were the gunman's sister and brother-in-law.
3. Authorities in the Philippines say a dismissed policeman holding hostages on a bus in Manila has released some of the hostages. The former officer seized the bus Monday, saying he wanted his job back. There were 25 people on the bus at the time. Negotiators are trying to free the remaining hostages.
4. Singer Wyclef Jean says he isn't abandoning his presidential bid. A board ruled Friday night that the pop star could not run for Haiti's top office. However, Wyclef says he plans to send a lawyer to Haitian court to appeal the decision. |
