1. The final monthly job report before the mid-term elections is due out this morning. The report is expected to say that private employers added about 75,000 jobs in September. However, that number will be offset by the loss of temporary Census workers, meaning the unemployment rate could rise to 9.7 %.

2. Ethics trials for two prominent House democrats will take place after the November elections. Charles Rangel and Maxine Waters are accused of violating standards of conduct. Rangel's hearing will take place November 15th, while Waters' is scheduled for November 29th.

3. Chinese dissident Li Xiaobo has won the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize, for his long and nonviolent struggle for fundamental human rights in China. The prize is likely to enrage the Chinese government which has warned the Nobel committee not to give the award to Li.

4. The New York Yankees and Texas Rangers are one win away from meeting in the American League Championship Series. Both teams took 2-0 leads in their series will win Thursday. The San Francisco Giants took a one-game to nothing lead behind Tim Lincecum who threw a two-hit shutout against the Atlanta Braves
