[06:25.91]Did you know that some plants even eat insects and small animals?
[06:32.39]These plants can't get enough food from the ground,
[06:35.47]so they need to eat something else.
[06:39.62]This plant smells very sweet and its leaves are red.
[06:44.66]Many insects love bright colours like red.Red means food!
[06:51.14]When they see the red leaves on this plant, they fly down for supper!
[06:56.99]but the leaves have lots of long hairs on them.
[07:02.14]If an insect touches the hairs once or twice,
[07:07.28]the two sides of the leaf shut together at once.
[07:12.33]It takes less than half a second!
[07:17.08]The poor insect is now inside the leaf and it cannot get out.
[07:22.83]it has become food for the plant. The plant eats it slowly.
[07:29.99]It takes the plant about 12 to 15 days to finish its meal.
[07:36.23]Small plants like those can catch insects,
[07:40.88]but a few larger ones can even catch small animals,

[07:52.22]When insects and animals see its leaves they come closer to have a good look.
[07:59.06]If an insect jumps onto a leaf,the hairs catch it.

[08:16.14]The hairs hold the insect so it can't move,and the leaf closes round it.

[08:28.06]When it has finished eating,the hairs open,

[08:37.41]and the wind blows away the insect's dry,empty body.
