1. Four Americans have been fatally shot in an attack by Somali pirates. The two couples were sailing around the world after their retirement. The four are the first Americans killed in a wave of pirate attacks operating off East Africa.

2. The violence in the streets of Libya's capital may not be over. The country's leader, Moammar Gadhafi is remaining defiant after two nights of a bloody crackdown on anti-government demonstrators. Gadhafi is urging his supporters to help put down the protests.

3. One of New Zealand's biggest cities is in ruins and at least 100 people are reported missing. A powerful earthquake has struck the city of Christchurch. Officials have already confirmed 65 deaths but worried that number could go up.

4. Voters in Chicago are braving icy weather to cast ballots in the mayoral election. They're choosing a successor to long-time Mayor Richard Daley. So far the former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has polled as the clear front runner.
