[00:59.84]In this plan,the government encourages

[01:04.81]in the western regions
[01:06.37]for one or two years as volunteers.

[01:11.61]volunteered to take part in this program?
[01:15.21]Oh yes,many of them.
[01:18.04]Till July,2003,about 43,000 have volunteered
[01:23.48]and 6,000 have gone.
[01:26.43]And which areas do volunteered work in?
[01:30.44]They work in many areas.
[01:32.87]Some work in education,
[01:35.09]others in health care.
[01:37.47]Some work with farmers in the countryside
[01:40.40]and some work on cultural programs.

[01:45.11]volunteers can decide to stay in Western China
[01:48.42]or to look for work in other parts
