[00:19.68]On tonight's show we'll be talking
[00:21.11]about noise pollution.
[00:22.78]Here with us to discuss this issue
[00:24.98]is Professor Wang,an environmentalist
[00:27.33]from Beijing University.
[00:29.17]Professor Wang,welcome to the show.
[00:31.48]Thank you.
[00:32.57]So,can you tell us,
[00:34.03]what exactly is noise pollution?
[00:36.85]That's a good question.
[00:38.78]It's not an easy thing to define.
[00:41.91]What one person thinks is a loud,
[00:44.48]annoying noise,another person might enjoy!
[00:48.55]It also depends on what the noise is,
[00:51.32]where it is,and when it occurs.
[00:54.20]For example,loud music at a rock concert
[00:57.49]is enjoyable for the audience,
[00:59.75]but even quiet music at 2 o'clock
[01:02.38]in the morning is very annoying
[01:04.31]for someone trying to sleep.
[01:06.22]Yes,I see.
[01:07.17]So how would you describe noise pollution, then
[01:10.46]Well,generally speaking,
[01:11.94]noise pollution is any sound that interrupts
[01:14.57]our daily lives or makes us feel uncomfortable.
