1. The lawyer for a hotel maid who accused International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual abuse says she is telling the truth. Lawyer Jeffrey Shapiro says the maid is an immigrant from West Africa, who has a 15-year-old daughter. He says she had no idea who Strauss-Kahn was until after she was attacked.

2. Shipping alone the Mississippi River has been stopped because of flooding fears. The Coast Guard says barge traffic could put an increased strain on levees. Port officials say the move could cost the US economy hundreds of millions of dollars per day.

3. Baseball Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew has died after battling esophageal cancer. Killebrew was an 11-time All-Star who played for the Washington Senators, the Minnesota Twins and the Kansas City Royals. He was 74.

4. The guest list is being kept secret, but producers are promising the biggest names on Hollywood for a special double-taping of Oprah's talk show at Chicago's United Center. Thousands of fans are excepted at the arena. Oprah's talk show is wrapping up production after 25 seasons late this month.
