BERLIN, June 30 (Xinhua) -- France humiliated Canada 4-0 thanks to a stunning performance by striker Gaetane Thiney who sealed a brace to smooth the way for their second victory in group A of the FIFA women's World Cup on Thursday. France wrapped the quarterfinal spot with their second victory at the second match as they absolutely dominated whereas Canada remained harmless and idealess over 90 minutes to oust from competition.
With 24 minutes into the match, Thiney capitalized on a positional error to nod home unmarked from inside penalty area. Almost 15 minutes into second half, she doubled the lead by slotting home into the top right to smooth the way for the victory.
As Canada remained absolutely incapable to threat French defence, France midfielder Camile Abily and striker Elodie Thomis sealed the deal to win in a blow out.
In the third match day of group A, France faces host and defending champion Germany and Canada encounters Nigeria.(本文由在线英语听力室整理编辑) |
