Cooler weather forecast for this week is expected to help bring blazes across New South Wales under control. About a hundred fires are burning with residents in the central west townships of Kandos and Rylstone still on alert. But the weather bureau says conditions will ease this week with cooler temperatures and some rain. South Australian Premier Mike Rann says a television program about his friendship with a former Parliament House waitress included allegations that are totally false. In the program, Michelle Chantelois said she had sex with the Premier in his office. In a written statement, the Premier rejects suggestions he preyed on Ms Chantelois’ vulnerabilities or exploited her in any way. The Opposition’s called for answers as to how detainees ended up injured in the secure detention facility on Christmas Island. A riot broke up between 150 Sri Lankan and Afghan asylum seekers being held at the center on Saturday night. Thirty-seven detainees were injured. Three had to be flown to Perth for treatment for broken bones. And even Santa’s fallen victim to the anti-aging obsession about times. After nearly five decades, New Zealand’s big Santa has been forced to undergo a face-lift to prop up a droopy eye so he didn’t scare children. I’ll have more news later. |
