Let's take a look at the satellite picture first, and cloud crossing the northwest in a trough is bringing widespread patchy rain to the Northern Territory and Queensland. And cloud edging south in a trough will cause rain in South Australia.

Checking the states now, and there'll be isolated showers above the tropical coast in Queensland. Fine in the southeast with some patchy light rain over most of the state and isolated storms developing over the far southwest.

In New South Wales, there will be light patchy rain developing in the far west and isolated showers along the north coast. It should be mostly fine elsewhere.

There will be a cool to mild afternoon for Victoria with some drizzle over East Gippsland. Isolated showers will develop in the northwest later in the day. Mostly dry and sunny elsewhere.

To Tasmania,and it will be a cool fine day with some light winds.

In South Australia, it should be mostly fine with just a few storms and isolated showers for the peninsula and the pastoral districts.

Isolated showers for the southwest of WA with some moderate to heavy falls over the remainder. The chance of storms near the west coast.

Further north there'll be some patchy rain above the coast and more cloud will develop during the day.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, which should be a wet day for Brisbane, showers in Sydney, and a cool and sunny day in Canberra, and partly cloudy for Perth and Melbourne. Darwin will have a top of 29 degrees.
