First, to the satellite image and a dominant high is keeping skies clear and conditions chilly across eastern Australia. Low cloud over the southern states is triggering scattered showers there. A northern trough is generating late storms about the tropics. Taking a closer look at the states–Queensland can expect isolated showers and afternoon thunderstorms about the northern tropics. It should be cool and clear across the remainder. A mostly fine day in New South Wales, just some scattered showers about the southern inland, falling a snow on the Alps. More rain, too, for Victoria. There'll be isolated showers over the southern and mountain districts, and patchy rain along the coastal fringe. Showers for Tasmania, mostly about the west and far south. Those falls will be snow to around 600 metres and they should contract to the east by mid-afternoon. In South Australia, just scattered showers about the south coast and they should clear to the east by mid-morning. It should be mostly sunny in Western Australia apart from some morning cloud about the south coast and southern inland. Sunny and mild in the Northern Territory too, and just a chance of some afternoon or evening showers and storms in the Top End. And looking ahead to Monday. A mostly fine day for Brisbane and Sydney with another cool morning. Partly cloudy in Canberra. Showers for Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide. Mostly sunny in Perth and in Darwin. |
