1. Deliberations are underway in the murder trial of Casey Anthony. The jury of seven women and five men are considering whether the 25-year-old is guilty of killing her young daughter. Anthony’s defense says the girl accidently drowned in the family pool. 2. Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn is facing new charge of sexual assault, this time in his native France. On Monday a young writer announced that she will formally accuse him of trying to rape her during a 2002 book interview.
3. Los Alamos’s National Lab in New Mexico will reopen to employees on Wednesday, as the threat from the largest wildfire in state history has passed. The lab and the town of Los Alamos were evacuated one week a go, residents were allowed to return home on Sunday.
4. In New York, competitive eater Joey Chestnut earned his fifth consecutive win at the annual July 4th hotdog eating contest. He scarfed down 62 wieners in 10 minutes. |
