1. The half brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai has been killed. Ahmed Wali Karzai was assassinated by a bodyguard at his home in Kandahar. Hamid Karzai says his brother's death reflects the suffering of all Afghan people. 2. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is back in court in London to fight extradition to Sweden, where he's accused of rape and molestation. His supporters say the Swedish prosecutors are being manipulated for political reasons, because of Wikileaks' release of classified US documents that infuriated US officials.
3. A legislative committee is questioning senior London police officers about why they didn't pursue a phone hacking investigation at the tabloid News of the World two years ago. The newspaper was shut down after public outrage over the allegations into hacked phones, including that of a murdered 13-year-old girl.
4. Two astronauts will retrieve a broken ammonia pump outside the International Space Station. The spacewalk will be the last of NASA's space shuttle era. |
