Hamburg beat Stuttgart to take first season victory(在线收听) |
BERLIN, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Struggling Hamburg turned a 0-1 deficit to a 2-1 victory over Stuttgart earning their first win of the season at the German Bundesliga owing to a frenetic second half on Friday. Hamburg showed a vital sign after six winless matches and the dismissal of coach Michael Oenning this week when they defeated Stuttgart thanks to two goals during second half.
Stuttgart started highly motivated against precarious Hamburg with interim coach Rodolfo Cardoso. As expected Stuttgart opened the scoring with 18 minutes into the match as striker Martin Harnik netted a follow up shot from penalty area to shock Hamburg with the early deficit.
Hamburg remained absolutely harmless but Stuttgart failed to exploit their neat advantage.
After the break, things changed as Hamburg took over control whereas Stuttgart retracted with the lead. Hamburg youngster defender Jeffrey Burma gave his side the equalizer when he nodded a diving header after a corner with six minutes into second half.
Hamburg kept it bowling to flabbergast the host in the 67th minute with the winner through midfielder Robert Tesche who hammered home a clearance attempt from penalty line to seal the first victory of the season.
"We have deserved the victory after we turned the match," Hamburg interim coach Rodolfo Cardoso said after the victory.
On Saturday, matches to take place include Schalke vs. Freiburg, Mainz vs. defending champion Dortmund, Wolfsburg vs. Kaiserslautern, Monchengladbach vs. Nuremberg, Augsburg vs. Hannover and Bayern vs. Leverkusen. |
