1. The White House is calling the flap over the timing of the President's economic address a sideshow. White House spokesman Jay Carney says the American people don't give a lick about when President Obama speaks, but they do care about what he says. He'll deliver his speech on job creation next Thursday. 2. Moammar Gadhafi is still in hiding, but he's issued a new audio statement, vowing that he and his supporters will keep fighting. Rebels have been hunting for the Libyan leader since they swept into Tripoli almost two weeks ago.
3. Firefighters in Texas say they are making progress against the wildfire that destroyed at least 39 homes in the Possum Kingdom Lake area since Tuesday. As of Thursday afternoon, the fire was about 15% contained.
4. A Georgia church hit the jackpot when somebody put an $80,000 winning lottery ticket in an offering plate. The cathedral of prayer says the donation will go toward fixing their air conditioning which broke last month when burglars stripped the unit of its copper wiring. |
