1. A woman and her baby daughter have died in the wild fires that have spread across parts of Texas. Thousands of acres are burned in the eastern and central parts of the state. Officials say the flames were propelled by high winds from tropical storm Lee. 2. A small plane crash that led one person dead in southern California has sparked a brush fire. It forced residents of 100 homes to evacuate. Officials say more than 400 firefighters are working to contain the flame.
3. The tropical depression that was once tropical storm Lee is moving northeast, now threatening to cause flash flooding in the Appalachians. Over the weekend, the storm dumped more than a foot of rain on New Orleans and caused wind damage and flooding in parts of the Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi coasts.
4. At least 26 people are dead in Japan after the worst typhoon that hit the country in 7 years. Rescue workers and search parties are spreading out across the central part of the country which is still reeling from the catastrophic tsunami of 6 months ago. |
