Wildfires in Texas have scorched thousands of acres and destroyed hundreds of homes. Texas Governor Rick Perry visited the evacuees of the Bastrop fire near the Texas capital. Thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes because of the fires.
3. David Petraeus trades in his uniform for suit today. He'll be sworn in as the new director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Petraeus takes over the civilian role after 37 years in the army.
4. And a massive catch in a southern Philippine town. Residents and reptile experts captured a 21-foot, one-ton saltwater crocodile over the long weekend. They plan to make the giant the star of a planned ecotourism park. |
