Hollywood actress Lohan's probation revoked(在线收听) |
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Troubled Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan, who has been put under a probation stemming from a misdemeanor theft and 2007 drunk driving case, saw her probation revoked by a Los Angeles judge as she failed to fulfill her community commitments. The 25-year-old star was led out of the courtroom of the Los Angeles Superior Court in handcuffs after Judge Stephanie Sautner berated her for repeatedly violating probation terms.
"There has been violation after violation," a visibly angry Sautner told the "Mean Girls" star and her attorney, Shawn Holley. "Like I said, ... probation is a gift. It's a gift. It's not a right."
Sautner said as far as she could tell, Lohan had only fulfilled about two hours of 360 hours required at a skid row shelter for women.
Lohan ended up getting terminated from the Downtown Women's Center because she allegedly failed to show up. The actress missed nine appointments and in some cases left after about an hour despite being ordered to stay for at least four hours each time, according to the judge.
The actress has since been serving time at an American Red Cross facility.
Sautner ordered that Lohan be take into custody, and set the actress' bail at 100,000 U.S. dollars.
The actress posted the bail and was released shortly after noon with an order to return for another hearing scheduled for Nov. 2.
Lindsay Tweeted about her latest legal trouble.
"I just want it to be known, that just because I was not followed&photographed during the times I've gone to community service, does NOT mean that I wasn't following my obligations (by going) to the court," she said.
Sautner also ordered that Lohan must report to the Los Angeles County morgue and perform a minimum of 16 hours of community service work there before the November hearing.
Lohan pleaded no contest May 11 to a misdemeanor grand theft charge involving a necklace priced at 2,500 dollars that was taken from a Venice jeweler.
She was placed on three years probation and ordered to spend 120 days in jail and complete the 480 hours of community service to which she had been previously sentenced for violating her probation in a 2007 misdemeanor drunk driving case. |
