BERLIN, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Hamburg shared points after a hectic match against Kaiserslautern while Cologne stopped a two-loss trend with a deserved 3-0 win over first division newcomers Augsburg in the 11th round of German Bundesliga on Sunday. Hamburg were reduced to 10 men from the 22nd minute when defender Solbodan Rajkovic was sent off due to a rude foul play, and Kaiserslautern utilized the advantage through midfielder Pierre De Wit, who scored with a tremendous shot from 17 meters into top right.
After interval, Hamburg started a run on Kaiserslautern's goal to equalize in the 63rd minute as striker Jose Paolo Guerrero headed home the leveller.
Hamburg climbs from 17th to 16th, a relegation spot, with only nine points out of 11 matches while Kaiserslautern jumps from 14th to 13th with 12 points.
"That was a great performance of my team. We have played 70 minutes with only ten men," Hamburg coach Thorsten Fink.
Also on Sunday, Cologne striker Lukas Podolski smoothed the victory for his side with his two goals (19', 24'). Midfielder Slawomir Pezko sealed the deal for his side when he poked home for the 3-0 lead at the 56th minute.
Cologne rises to 11th position with 16 points whilst Augsburg struggles in the relegation zone on 17th position with eight points. |
