News reports say at least 4 survivors were pulled from a collapsed six-story building after a man managed to call police on his cell phone. At least 270 people have died. 2. A report from a government watchdog warns that a state department program to train Iraqi police lacks focus and could become a "bottomless pit" of American money. The findings by the US Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction paints a generally harsh picture of what is supposed to be the state department's flagship program in Iraq.
3. President Obama takes the push for his jobs bill to Las Vegas today. Nevada has the nation's highest unemployment rate, 13.4%. He'll latter attend campaign events in California.
4. And a lucky landing for a pilot in southern Virginia. He managed to land his four-seater Cessna on a highway when he couldn't get back to the airport, despite the plane's nose landing gear not working properly. The pilot walked away unhurt. |
