1. Stock markets around the world are soaring. The Federal Reserve and other central banks are taking joint action to ease the strains on the global financial system. The move is boosting investor confidence. They worried that a default by a European country could create another global credit crisis. 2. Officials in two more cities have shut down local Occupy Wall Street encampments. In Los Angeles, police arrested more than 200 protesters in an early morning raid outside City Hall. And about 50 protesters were arrested in Philadelphia overnight.
3. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has begun a historic visit to the long-isolated Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar. On the agenda, a visit with opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
4. And Herman Cain confirms he's "reassessing" his presidential bid. That's after a woman came forward, saying she had a 13-year affair with him. Cain says he will make a decision in the next few days about the future of the campaign. |
