F: I was the developer of the ideas, the charaters and the game strategy.

F: No, I hired freelancers to develop the software.
M:Who wrote the user’s manual?

F:Freelancers wrote the manual.

Q:who developed the source code and manual?
A:Freelancer.

Contract(和约)= agreement, verbal(口头)=oral,written agreement(书面协议)
M:Do you have a written contract with the freelancer?
F:No , our agreements are verbal.
M:No written agreement?
F:just an oral one. Am I in trouble?
M:Not necessarily, verbal agreements can be binding.
F:but a written agreement is better.
M: written agreements spell out(specify) the obligations for both sides.
F:My verbal agreement can be easily misinterpreted.
Q:What kind of contract does the company have with the freelancer?
A:Verbal contract.
Dialog 3:
Retroactive(追溯的),lay claim to the rights (要求享有产权)
M: I would recommend that you get formal written agreements with your freelancers.
F: You mean now after the fact?
M: these would be retroactive agreements.
F: retroactive to when they started to work for me?
M: right, have they signed written work for hire agreement(雇佣协议)?
F: and these will replace our verbal agreement?
M: You don’t want your freelancers to lay claim to your rights,do you?
F:You prepare the written agreements, and I’ll get them signed.
