2. Gabrielle Giffords took part in a ceremony remembering the six people killed one year ago when a gunman opened fire on the congresswoman. Giffords, who suffered a severe head injury in the attack, led the pledge of allegiance.

 

 

 

3. After a seven-month hiatus due to cancer treatment, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has resumed his weekly television and radio programs. At one point during the five-hour show, he performed with a band.

 

 

 

4. And authorities in New Zealand say there's little environmental damage after a wrecked cargo ship split in two over the weekend. In October the same ship spilled about 400 tons of fuel, killing thousands of birds when it ran aground.
