Heracles reaches first ever Dutch Cup final(在线收听) |
THE HAGUE, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Heracles Almelo surprisingly secured its first ever final berth in the Dutch Cup on Thursday evening by beating AZ 4-2 in Alkmaar. Heracles took an early lead through a header by Everton, but halfway the first half AZ bounced back with two goals within two minutes, by Adam Maher and Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
The home team got chance after chance to decide the semifinal, but lacked a good finish. Heracles could therefore continue to hope for a stunt and equalized through a header by Kwame Quansah.
In the final minutes of regular playing time, both teams had opportunities, but extra time was needed to decide the match.
Substitutes Thomas Bruns and Ninos Gouriye brought Heracles the historic 4-2 win in extra time.
Heracles will meet PSV Eindhoven, which beat Heerenveen on Wednesday, in the final on April 8 in Rotterdam. |
